Children's Privacy

Once Upon America is designed for children ages 4–10 and is built to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This page is the parent-facing disclosure of what we do and do not collect, what we use information for, and the rights you have as a parent or guardian.

What we do not collect from children

We do not ask children for, and we do not knowingly collect from children:

• Last names, addresses, or phone numbers
• Precise location
• Photos, video, or audio recordings
• Social media identifiers
• Contacts
• Email addresses
• Persistent identifiers used for advertising

What we do collect through child profiles

All child profiles are created by a parent or guardian using the parent account. Through a child profile we collect:

• First name only (or a nickname) — used to personalize the in-app greeting. The parent chooses what to enter.
• Age band (4–6, 6–8, 8–10) — used to surface age-appropriate stories. We do not collect a birthdate.
• Listening history — which stories were played and for how long, so the app can show "continue listening" and "recently played." Stored against the child profile, not shared externally.

How we use this information

• To run the app and personalize what each child sees.
• To support the parent's family-sharing experience.
• To improve the product in aggregate, anonymized form.

We do not use child information for advertising, profiling, or behavioral marketing, and we do not sell or share child information with third parties for advertising purposes.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers under contract to operate the Service (cloud hosting, crash reporting, payments). These providers process information only on our instructions and only for the purposes we authorize. See our Privacy Policy for the current list.

Parental rights

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:

• Review the information we have associated with your child's profile.
• Delete a child profile and all information associated with it. You can delete a profile in the app under Settings → Profiles, or by emailing us.
• Refuse further collection by deleting the profile or canceling the account.

To exercise any right, or if you believe a child has provided information directly to us, email privacy@onceuponamerica.us. We will respond within 30 days.

Verifiable parental consent

Because the app is purchased and managed through a parent account on the App Store or Google Play, account creation itself serves as the verifiable parental consent step. Children do not independently create accounts.

Notifications, push, and email

We do not send marketing email to children. We may send transactional email (e.g., receipts, family-share invites) to the parent account email address. Push notifications are addressed to the parent account and can be disabled in your device settings.

Changes to this disclosure

If we make material changes to how we handle children's information, we will notify the parent account by email and update the “Last updated” date above.
